Catherine MacNeil Obituary

Pharr Texas - Catherine was born on December 27, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Micheal MacNeil and Eileen Boyle MacNeil. Our friend Kay passed away on November 12, 2025. Kay was dearly loved by her siblings, Tom MacNeil of Scarsdale, New York and Eileen MacNeil of Roswell, Georgia. She was beloved Aunt Kay to eight nieces and two nephews. She was a dear friend to Vince MacLean and Eva Valdez. Kay was a graduate of Marygrove College in Detroit. She entered the religious order, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe, Michigan. She received her Master's Degree from University of Detroit and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Fordham University in New York. As an IHM Sister Kay taught for 23 years. She enjoyed her students and her fellow teachers. She was interested in politics and actively involved. After leaving the convent, she taught for another 20 years in South Texas. Kay was a loyal friend, a happy traveler and a gracious hostess. She will be greatly missed. There will be a funeral mass scheduled for Friday November 21, 2025 for 2:00 PM at Saint Josephs Church at 114 Fay St. Edinburg, TX. Friends, collogues and family please join us to celebrate the life of our friend.

We are Cape Bretoners. Myrna's father, Rod C Macneil was a cousin to Kay. in 2014 while working in houston we made a couple of trips to see Kay. She was full of life, stories and laughs. We were honoured to spend some quality time with this very special lady.
