Catherine Frances McIver (née Fitzgibbon) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 96. Catherine was a long-time resident of Easton, MA and Amherst, NH. Catherine's family and friends were blessed with her kindness and care, and her enthusiasm for adventure and a life well lived.
Catherine was born on August 2, 1929, to John and Julia Fitzgibbon (née Noonan), the second child of a large and loving immigrant family. The family settled in Brighton, where Catherine graduated from St. Columbkille High School and went to work for New England Telephone and Telegraph.
She met and married her beloved husband, James D. McIver (d. 2002) in 1954, and their long and supportive marriage served as an example to all. They moved to Easton and had six children, and Catherine settled into the life of a wife and mother. She forged many lasting and meaningful friendships in Easton. In 1972, Catherine and James changed their careers, James trained as a teacher and Catherine trained as a nurse. Catherine and James were devout Catholics, and they lived and worked in service to others.
Catherine is survived by her children, sons James, John, Edward and Gregory, and their wives Lisa, Mary-Ellen, Susan, and Karen, respectively; her daughters Joan and Julie, and their husbands James and Holger, respectively; her grandchildren Nathaniel, Graham, Ryan, Sean, Samantha, Jamie, Gavin, Michaela, Matthew, Catherine and Adeline, and their partners; her great-grandchildren, Tayla, Patrick, Gregory, Alaina, Cara, Olivia, Wayland, Hadley, Otis, Edith, Willow and Lottie; her sisters Sheila Fitzgibbon Fuller and Eileen Fitzgibbon Allen and her husband, Nicholas Allen, and her sister-in-law, Jean McIver Mellyn. Catherine's husband James predeceased her, as did her sisters Joan, Mary, and Nora, and her brothers, Clarence (Buddy), Thomas, John, and Edward.
