Catherine Colette McKenna, age 80, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Puyallup, Washington.
Born on April 25, 1945, in Dublin, Ireland, Catherine was raised in a warm and lively household as one of eight children-beloved daughter of Bernadette and Martin Cahill, and cherished sister to six sisters and one brother. Growing up in such a close-knit family instilled in her the deep sense of love, loyalty, and faith that would guide her throughout her life.
After Catherine met the love of her life, Patrick J. McKenna, the two married and eventually immigrated to the United States, where they built a life together centered on family, faith, and hard work. Catherine pursued a career as a dental assistant, a profession in which she took great pride. Her attention to detail, gentle nature, and genuine care for others made her a trusted and beloved presence to both colleagues and patients alike.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick McKenna, and is lovingly remembered by her children Christopher, Stephen, David, Andrew, Sinead; her Nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Outside of her professional life, Catherine found joy in gardening, baking, and music-each reflecting her warmth, creativity, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She also loved dressing up for a night out, embracing every occasion to celebrate life's moments with elegance and flair. Above all, Catherine treasured her family-her happiest times were those spent surrounded by loved ones, sharing laughter, stories, and memories.
Catherine will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on October 22, 2025, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2020 Mountain View Drive. A reception will follow at the Les Gove Park Multipurpose Building, 1020 Deal's Way, Auburn, WA 98002. (Parking available at the Auburn Library.)
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may the love she shared continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
