Catherine (Kay) Mountain, 88 years old, of Barrington, was chosen by God to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 8, 2025. Catherine passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born to John & Mary (Mullen) McGee in Twin Mountain, NH on September 30, 1936, Catherine was the 7th of 10 children. Catherine was the only senior graduate of Twin Mountain High School, Class of 1954. On October 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Joseph Mountain Sr.
In 1963, they settled in Barrington, NH, where she cared for their four children and their home until the youngest child started school. Catherine then worked in the school cafeteria and in food service at Republic Management and UNH until her retirement. Catherine had an amazing sense of humor and was typically the instigator to most practical jokes and squirt gun fights.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 69 years, Joseph; sons, Joseph Jr. (Janine) of Rochester, NH; Fulton (Lisa) of Bath, NH; David (Leah) of Barrington, NH; and daughter, Angela (Jerry) Gervais of Rochester, NH; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Boynton and Theresa Jellison; brother, Thomas McGee; several nieces, nephews, sister and brother in laws. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary McGee; sisters, Irene Thompson, Stella Lemieux, Phyllis Ricardi and Janet Wessels; brothers, John and Herbert McGee.
The family would like to thank Wentworth Hospice for their care and compassion in the final days.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held on Saturday May 31, at St Mary Church, 71 Lowell St. Rochester, NH 03867. There will be Memorial Gathering from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Christian Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Hampton.
