Catherine "Cathy" Jo Strauss, passed away peacefully at WVU Medicine - Wheeling Hospital on October 24, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Wheeling, WV, on May 7, 1953, Cathy brought warmth, kindness, and an unwavering love to all who knew her.

Cathy's life was centered around her family, whom she cherished above all else. Throughout her career, she held several jobs, but her true calling was as a homemaker, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. Her dedication to her loved ones knew no bounds, and her family was truly her world.

Ever the enthusiast of simple joys, Cathy found immense pleasure in cooking delicious meals, losing herself in the pages of a good book, and listening to her favorite music. Her compassion extended beyond her human family; she was deeply passionate about her pets, adoringly referred to as her "fur babies," who brought her endless joy and companionship.

Cathy was Catholic by faith who lived her beliefs though acts of kindness and generosity. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Joseph Kwiatkoski and Ruth (Olson) Harris; her husband, John Strauss; her daughter, Melissa Bonds; and her brother, Robbie Olson.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her son, Scott Birkett; sisters Cheyann James, Olivia Harris, and Lil (Rick) Harris; brothers Fred Harris and Jay (Candy) Harris; her beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Alexa, and Rylee Birkett, McKenzie (Zach) Spaulding, and Mason Bonds; her great-grandchildren, Raiden, Kaison, and Ava Lynn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.

Honoring Cathy's wishes, there will be no public services. The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date to share memories and honor the impact Cathy made on everyone she encountered.
