Catherine Talley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Feb. 12, 2026.
Catherine Renee Talley, born Catherine Renee Cannaday on September 21, 1960, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Renee graduated from Commonwealth College with a degree in Applied Science. She was a strong, hardworking single mother who devoted herself to providing for her children and giving them a foundation of love, stability, and support. She was a faithful and loving wife to Robert, sharing laughter, companionship, and steady support throughout their many years together.

Renee adored animals, especially dogs and horses, and found happiness in their companionship. She loved riding Harleys and cruising in her go-kart. She also had a sweet tooth and especially enjoyed chocolate, including her son's homemade fudge. Her family will always remember her delicious cakes, baked with love for every special occasion. As a young girl, her favorite pastime was roller skating, a memory that stayed close to her heart throughout her life.

Renee was preceded in death by her father, Pete "Owen" Harris; her mother, Sara Lou Harris; and her biological father, Thomas Morton Cannaday.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Talley; her three children, Justin Sipe (wife Amie and children Tyler, Brittani, Kylie, and Kayci), Jennifer Sorey (husband Scott and two sons, Scotty and Jase), and Krystle Cahoon (husband David and children Ethan, Dylan, and Abigail); and her step-son, Robert Kirby (son Robert James). She is also survived by her sister, Alisha Cannaday; her brother, William Cannaday; and many nieces and nephews, including Jessica, who shared Renee's special love for animals.

Above all, Renee will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart, and the deep love she had for her family, especially her three children. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the children she worked so hard to raise. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at R.W. Baker Funeral Home, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434, on Thursday, February 19th at 6:30 p.m. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
