Catherine J. "Kitty" (Kilraine) Ward

Catherine J. "Kitty" Ward, of Watertown, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Roscommon, Ireland on August 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Kilraine. Kitty was a Watertown resident for the past 40 years. A devoted homemaker, she also worked at Perkins School for the Blind, Litecontrol and Saint Patrick's Parish. She was an active parishioner at Saint Patrick's and Sacred Heart Parishes. Kitty succumbed to a long fight with cancer. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital; prayers from Father Charles Higgins and the Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Parish including Maggie Bibbo; Father Robert Reed and the CatholicTV audience; and the most caring and loving family and friends, through the suffering, she lived her life with dignity and died peacefully. She is survived by her husband of 52 years John (Seán); a son, Seán of Hanson and his wife Jennifer; and a daughter Noreen of North Hampton, NH and her husband Michael. She was the loving sister of Mary Mulligan, the late Seán Kilraine and Nora (Patricia) McGonagle. She was the proud and devoted nana of Katelyn and John Ward and Michael Lynch, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot Street, Newton Upper Falls, on Friday, September 19th at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton and Mackay, 465 Centre St NEWTON CORNER, on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Needham. In lieu of flowers donations in Kitty's name may be made to Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot St, Newton Upper Falls, MA 02464.
