Catherine R. West, 91, of Waynesboro, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, in her home. Born April 15, 1934, in Hagerstown, MD she was the daughter of the late Paul Ellis and Myrtle Elizabeth (Rudsill) Rowe.
Catherine was a faithful member of the Salem Ridge Community Church where she enjoyed quilting with the other ladies of the church. She loved going to the beach, participating in Civil War reenactments with her son, and babysitting for her grandchildren and other children of friends.
She is survived by four children, Herby West (Sue) of Mercersburg, PA, Karen Ortiga of Waynesboro, PA, Cathy Mummert (Gene) of Waynesboro, PA and Robert West of Inwood, WV ; eight grandchildren, Conway Ricker, Daniel Warren, Emily Burns (Barry), Shane Mummert, Ty Mummert (Billie), Kirstin Blank, Dakotah West, and Dustin Spencer; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan Atkins, Camden Ricker, Rebeca Warren, Caiden Warren, Phiona Warren, Braedon Bowers, Mason Mummert, Eli Spoonhour, and Arabella Vianey; one sister, Linda Blough (Michael); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Sonny” West; a daughter, Carol “Sissy” West; grandson, Dwayne Mummert; and three siblings, Pauline and Betty Monninger, and George Rowe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Salem Ridge Community Church, 441 Pensinger Road, Greencastle, PA 17225. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice Team of Advantage, Mechanicsburg, PA for their care and comfort during a difficult time.
