Mrs. Catherine E. Ziegenfus

Mrs. Catherine E. Ziegenfus, 91, of Slatington, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Harold Ziegenfus, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2001.

Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice Meckes and a stepdaughter of the late Albert Dotter.

She was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Trachsville, and a life member of the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company, Trachsville.

We have been blessed with the presence of Catherine in our lives. She will be deeply missed by her children: Betty Krause, and her spouse, Barry, of Slatington, with whom she resided, and Robert Ziegenfus and his companion, Rita Swanger, of Palmerton.

She was the loving grandmother to Amanda Krause of Slatington and Scott Krause in Illinois.

She is also survived by her siblings: Arlene Rios, Beatrice Ziegenfus, Norman Burger, Dorothy Davidson, Donald Burger, Anita Borger, Virginia Cogar, Sterling Burger and Harvey Burger; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Harold, she was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Susan Ziegenfus; and her siblings: Emma Shupp, Albert Dotter Jr., Claudia Furry and Joyce Brunell.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Trachville. Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Monday, April 14, from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Catherine will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Jerusalem Lutheran Church Building Fund, 500 Church Road, Palmerton, PA 18071. Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Rt. 209, Gilbert, is entrusted with her arrangements.
