Cathren Holder Obituary
Cathren Holder was born April 15th, 1934, in Fordyce Arkansas to Roy Shelton and Essie
Locke Shelton. She was one of six children.
After moving to Las Vegas, she met and married Charles Holder in 1953. They had three
children in this union. Cathren was employed at the Haciennda Hotel as a Housekeeper
Supervisor and after 25 years there due to the hotel closure she left and went to work at
Dune’s Hotel for 5 years where she retired.
Cathren was a member of the Fordyce Club of Las Vegas, Nevada, That’s What Friends
Are For and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 10.
She loved her sports; her favorite team is the LA Lakers. Oh, and one more thing she
loved her peppermint candy.
The sun went down in the life of Cathren Jane Holder on November 24, 2023, as she
was summoned by the Heavenly Father to come home.
Cathren is proceeded in death by her husband Charles Holder, her two sons; Charles E.
Holder and Allen P. Holder, two sisters; Blanche Shelton and Betty Shelton, two
brothers; Coley Shelton and Roy Shelton. Cathren leavers to cherish her memories; her
daughter Debra Holder, her sister Essie Jacobs, her god-son James “JJ” Jones, six
grandchildren; Nicole (Rian) Goin, Cabria (Tavon) Patterson, Zerina (Michael) Grayson,
Taylor Bellingshausen, Rayetra (Melvin) Price, and Anthony King, eight great
grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a dearly devoted longtime friend
