Cathy "Cat" Gonzalez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on June 26, 1937, in Steubenville, Ohio. After a life filled with love and laughter, she peacefully passed away on December 15, 2024, in New Carlisle, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
Cathy brought warmth and joy into every room she entered. With a boundless curiosity and a loving spirit, she never knew a stranger; her kindness touched the lives of many. Her faith played an integral role in her life, as she cherished her time serving as a Deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church. Her love for Jesus was unwavering, guiding her interactions and inspiring those around her.
An artist at heart, Cathy found joy in expressing herself through art and music. Whether painting a serene landscape or sharing a favorite tune, she imparted beauty wherever she went. As a dedicated fan of the OSU Buckeyes, her enthusiasm for life could often be seen vividly reflected in her spirited cheers for her team.
Cathy’s family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by her cherished children, Steve Gonzalez, David (Cheri) Gonzalez, and Lisa (Kevin) Kawanishi, who will continue to honor her legacy of love and togetherness. Her grandchildren—Tylan (Erica), Thomas (Jennifer), Brandon (Jessica), Nico (Britney), Heather, Devin, Alisha, Kenny, Nicole, and Miranda—and a gaggle of great-grandchildren brought her immense joy and pride, enriching her life with countless memories and laughter.
Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by her brother, John (Nan) Wylie; her nephew, JD (Lindsay) Wylie and her special family friend, Maria Beimly, who held a special place in her heart.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Wylie, and her devoted husband, Frederick Gonzalez, with whom she shared many beautiful moments. Though they are no longer with us, their love continues to shine bright through the family that remains.
A visitation will be held on January 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life that will take place at 11:00 AM, Faith Presbyterian Church, located at 5555 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights, OH 45424.
