Cecelia Melton McBride

Cecelia Melton McBride, 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2011, after a 16 year battle with breast cancer. Born September 23, 1942 in Newport News, VA, to the late Louise Bowman and Cecil C. Melton, Sr. Cecelia graduated from Great Bridge High School and she worked at the Norfolk Health Department for 20 years. She was a former member of Tidewater Baptist Church. Cecelia was a loving and generous soul. She was passionate about gardening and she loved to spend time with her family. Survivors include three children, William Russell McBride III, Karen McBride Ellison and Michael Raleigh McBride and his wife Megan; three grandchildren, Marlin and Erica Ellison and William Kelly McBride; two sisters, Doris Ruffner and her husband John and Martha Powell of Chesapeake, VA. She was predeceased by her brothers, Courtney, Neal and Fletcher. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel.
