Cecil “Buck” Bloodsworth, age 79, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Ocean Springs Hospital. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to MayShack and Marget Chandler Bloodsworth, Buck grew up in Pascagoula, MS and resided in Jackson County for most of his life.
Buck proudly served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969, including a 13-month tour in Vietnam. His courage and dedication to service of his country were hallmarks of his character. Buck was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones deeply. Affectionately known as “Uncle Buck” to most, Buck was a man of boundless charisma and warmth, known for his outgoing nature and ability to make friends wherever he went. He had a zest for life, enjoying Bingo, dancing, and participating in social activities at Lighthouse Assisted Living. His kindness and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, MayShack and Marget Chandler Bloodsworth; his brothers, Jimmy Joe Bloodsworth and Terry Bloodsworth; his sisters, Elizabeth Clark and Linda DeWoody; and his father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Christine Ates Williams.
He is survived by his dedicated wife and constant companion of 56 years, Sheryl Bloodsworth; and his children, Jason (Dana) Bloodsworth, Brady (Grace) Bloodsworth, Christy Good, Kami (Ricky) Erdmier, Kari (Eric) Bass, and Kacee (Billy) Flowers. Buck was a proud grandfather to Lane Bloodsworth, Ashtynn Bloodsworth, Brett Good, Noah Bloodsworth, Morgan (Ayoub)MoustaQuim, Christopher Good, Chandler Erdmier, Hunter (Magen) Bloodsworth, Brayden Bloodsworth, Kingston Bass, Ethan Adcock, Jackson Good, Scarlett Adcock, Adisen Adolphsen, Briar Bloodsworth, Remington and Riggs Bass, and Skyler Flowers. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Haisley Bloodsworth, Emery Moran, Ellie Green, Rylee Parker, and Charli Bloodsworth. Buck is also survived by his sisters, Virginia Ladnier and Barbara Yeager; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Brooks and Cheryl Donald; and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Biloxi National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. After the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Eric and Kari Bass to celebrate and remember the life of a man who was deeply loved by many.
Cecil will be remembered for his kindness, his magnetic personality, and his unwavering love for his country, family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished forever. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in support of veterans, in honor of a life that deeply valued service and sacrifice.
