Cecil King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery on Dec. 19, 2025.
Cecil Earl King, 80, passed from this life on December 16, 2025, at his home in Summerdale, Alabama.
Born in Pensacola, Florida on May 3, 1945, to Henry L. and Minnie L. King, he retired from the Anniston Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama after a career of civil service. He went on to work for the postal service and AOD Federal Credit Union. After his retirements, he went on to enjoy working his small farm of animals and orchards. He did not know the meaning of resting; a plan for work was always hatching.
He was known for having never met a stranger. If he met you, he called you friend. What followed next was an invitation to accompany he and June on a cruise.
He was quite the jokester. If you needed a good laugh, he was more than ready to oblige.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Melaney June; two daughters, Cheryl (Corey) Powell and Christina (Daniel Decker); six grandchildren, Drake (Katie) Powell, Brookelyn (Alex) Stokes, Bence Decker, BryLee Decker, Chantel Decker, and Candan Decker; one great grandson, Mason Powell; one brother, Benjamin Timothy King; a host of nephews and nieces; and many friends, including special friend, Tim Westmoreland. He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their care. Special thanks to Mary Nichols whose exceptional care of Cecil and every detail imaginable truly made a difference to the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home, Gadsden, Alabama. The family will receive guests between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the funeral home chapel. Because we know Cecil likely invited you to join him on a cruise, the family invites you to wear your favorite cruise-themed attire.
