Cecil "Doc" Lane Slavens, Jr., age 72 of Hurricane Mills, TN passed away on Wednesday, October 16 2024, at St. Thomas West. He was born on October 15, 1952, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Edith Adkins Slaven and Cecil Slavens, Sr. As a truck driver, he navigated the open roads with dedication and pride, bringing not just goods, but also a sense of connection between distant places. He retired from Civil Constructors after 21 years. His career was marked by the friendships he forged along the way and the stories he gathered from his travels, making him a well-respected figure among his peers.Beyond his profession, Cecil had a love for life that was evident in his hobbies and interests. He adored his family, always ensuring they felt cherished and supported. His spirit extended to his love for motorcycles, where he found joy in the freedom of the ride. Music played a significant role in his life as well; he embraced the rhythms of rock n roll and alternative rock, often sharing his favorite tunes with family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime. One of Cecil's proudest accomplishments was his baptism, a moment that held deep meaning for him and reflected his strong values. This pivotal experience shaped his character and his interactions with those around him, echoing his commitment to living a life of integrity and compassion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Slavens of Hurricane Mills, TN; sons, Josef Slavens (Melinda) of Gulf Breeze, FL, John Slavens (Kayla) Old Hickory, TN, Joshua Slavens (Allison) of Bon Aqua, TN and Matthew Slavens (Madeleine) of Bon Aqua, TN; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Cecil is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Slavens and his father, Cecil Slavens, Sr.
There are no public services scheduled at this time.
