Cecile A. Blais 1937-2025

Cecile A. Blais, lovingly known as Ceil, passed away at the age of 88 on November 22, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was surrounded by her devoted family during her final moments. Born on September 9, 1937, in Northampton, MA, Ceil was the beloved daughter of Raymond H. and Nathalie L. (Vanasse) Arel.

Ceil was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 61 years, Paul Blais, who passed away in 2018. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michele M. Blais, and Michele's wife, Patricia Hoskin, of Sun City Center, FL; her sons, Paul G. Blais and his wife Tina of Halifax, VT, and Richard R. Blais and his wife Alice Wimer of Buckland, MA. Ceil also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Paul and Meagan Blais.

A dedicated wife and mother, Ceil also enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where she served for 25 years. She retired as Treasurer of the Northampton State Hospital. Ceil will be fondly remembered for her radiant smile, her energetic and heartfelt greetings, her passion for music, and her deep love for spending time with family and friends.

Music played a significant role in Ceil's life. She learned to play the organ, which not only brought her joy but also fostered lifelong friendships with a remarkable group of individuals whom she was grateful to call friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass, which will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, located at 127 Holyoke Rd., Westfield. Burial will take place at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Boucher – O'Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Cecile's name to the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute at Cooley Dickenson. https://giving.cooleydickinson.org/
