Cecilia Muras Banse

Cecilia Muras Banse of Wallis passed away on October 4, 2024, at the age of 80.
She was born on February 11, 1944, in Fayette County to Vaclav and Leona (Janacek) Muras.
She grew up on her family's farm in Hostyn, along with her older sister and three younger brothers. She completed a Junior Secretarial course through Nixon-Clay College in Austin in 1964 and received her GED in 1965. She worked as a secretary at the Board of Pardons and Paroles in Austin from February 1966 to May 1967.
Cecilia met her husband, Leonard Banse, at a dance and they married on May 6, 1967. They started their married life in Rosenberg and decided to purchase land in Wallis to raise their family along with cattle, pecan and fruit trees, row crops and chickens. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2024.
After raising her children, she started an upholstery business and then worked for several years at Ben's Chuckwagon and Blessington Farms. She also really enjoyed helping with the summer crop harvest for her son and several local farmers by driving a milo auger cart and operating a cotton module builder.
Cecilia was happiest when she was working, busy and productive. She enjoyed being outdoors the most, taking care of her vegetable garden and farm animals and using the Gator utility vehicle to check on the cows. She lived an amazingly humble life, devoted to her family, faith and in constant service to others.
She was a devout member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, a member of the Parish Council, planned and prepared the monthly Senior Luncheons, and organized the peeling of potatoes for the church bazaar.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Banse Fuechec. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Banse, and her children: Michael (Patricia) Banse, Donna Parke, Janette (Brian) Demny, Brian Banse, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Veronica Genzer and brothers Ivan Muras, Edwin Muras, and Denis Muras.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 5 – 7 PM at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5614 Demel Street, Wallis, TX, with a rosary recited at 7 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11 AM at Guardian Angel Catholic Church.
