Cecilia Hardin Hennemann

Cecilia Yvonne Hardin Hennemann, 75, of Louisville passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2024. She was born September 12, 1949, and is preceded in death by her parents John William Hardin and Rose Ellen Howlett Hardin and brother Gregory Lee Hardin. Cecilia attended Angela Merici High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Cecilia worked as a teacher, but her life's work was designing and restoring wedding gowns. A passionate and talented artist, Ceci found joy in expressing herself through various creative outlets. Her love of knitting, sewing, and quilting resulted in beautiful pieces, often gifted to loved ones and winning Kentucky State Fair ribbons!
She had a deep appreciation for the beautiful connection between nature and the arts and spent countless hours painting the beauty she found in the world around her. Ceci also loved working in her yard growing vegetables, flowers, and adding to her special shell garden.
Her spiritual beliefs intertwined elements of Catholicism and Buddhism weaving a tapestry of prayer, meditation, and a profound respect for all beings. Her diverse spiritual practices were united by a common thread of genuine love and compassion felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cecilia's love and unwavering support for her family and friends was a constant source of comfort and inspiration. The greatest honor of her life was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her earthly departure comes as a great shock and is deeply felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her dearly.
Cecilia is survived by her husband, Bud Hennemann II; son, Jonathan Obst; daughter, Kathryn Lee Obst Hulsewede (Jason) and her grandchildren, Holland Rose and Hardin "Buck" Hulsewede. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jason Hennemann, and Michelle Tooke (Treav) and her grandson, Isaac Tooke; siblings, Marc Hardin (Dana) her dearest niece Scout Hardin, Pam Riley (Patrick); sister-in-law, Barb Hardin and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at The Louisville Boat Club, 4200 River Road, Louisville, KY 40207.
