Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Anthony J. Materia and the late Cecilia C. (Rodrigues) Materia.
After college, she graciously volunteered as a Special Needs Teacher for the James L. Maher Center. A devout Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily. An avid reader, she also enjoyed her long walks to Grinnell's Beach. Most notably, Cecilia relished the time she spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She leaves her loving siblings, Paul V. Materia of Florida, Grace Andrade of South Carolina, Nancy Desoto of Florida, Cynthia Baptista of Tiverton, Carol Correia of Fall River, and Karen Correia of Swansea. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Paul R. Materia, David Andrade, Deborah Moniz, Patti Ann Jean, Joseph Baptista, Nicole Correia, Anthony Correia, Shane T. Plonka , Helen Materia, and Sara Materia. She was the sister of the late Stephen Materia.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 8:45 AM from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St., Christopher's Church, 1554 Main Rd., Tiverton, at 10:00 AM. Her visitation will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025 in the Silva-Faria Funeral Home from 5-8 PM. Committal and Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
