Cedric Lamar Brown was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Daphne Yvette Brown and Harden Hairston on January 2, 1986. Ceddy was a sweet, loving, caring, and kind-hearted person. He would do anything for anyone, and he would give the clothes off his back. Ceddy was a God-fearing young man; he believed in God and belonged to the Church of Christ in Kalamazoo, Michigan, under the leadership of Pastor Brother Jim Miller. He believed in God, loved his Bible, and could quote a scripture or verse word for word. Ceddy loved to dance, sing, and make people laugh, and he had a great sense of humor. He received his GED and worked in the restaurant industry, where he performed food preparation and cleaning duties. He was a very clean person and would do anything for you if you asked him. He loved chocolate and ice cream. His favorite colors were blue, brown, and purple.
I remember when he was a year old, he would always say "aqua," and I never knew what it meant, but I would always give him water. Years later, he told me, "Aunt Ann, 'aqua' means water," and I laughed. He was a happy and outgoing little boy with big dreams. He always played competitive soccer with the travel teams and received many accolades. Ceddy is preceded in death by his mother, Daphne Brown of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his father, Harden Hairston of metropolitan Illinois; his grandmother, Lula Holmes of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and his great-great-grandmother, Josephine Buford of Jackson, Mississippi.
Ceddy leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Aneisha Butler and Ceaira Lipsey; two brothers, Andrew Smith of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Andre Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cedric never married and had no children, but he had a heart of gold. He also leaves behind 15 nieces and nephews; five special aunts: Earlene, Teena, Kimyatta, Rosalind, and Jennifer, whom he called "Mom"; special cousins: Terriana, Michael, Broderick Jr., Bernard, Ahmada, and Tyeisha; and special uncles: Broderick Sr., Thaddeus, and Oscar, along with a host of friends and family.
Ceddy will be truly missed and loved by everyone. RIH, my beautiful "Angel."
