Celia M. (Belden) Cattarusa is now in the loving arms of the Lord, Jesus Christ. She passed away on August 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving children in the comfort of her home.
Celia was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 2, 1924 to Cruz and Dionicia Mendoza. She is survived by her children, Robert W. Belden, Jr. (Meili), Charles W. Belden, (Shelley), Lynnda B. Suarez (A.D.), Ronnie Belden (Robin), Carmen B. Gamez (Joe A.) and Mark Belden. Celia had a love for the Lord Jesus Christ which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She had a strong faith and was a fierce prayer warrior.
Celia was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived her life for her children and grandchildren. She made time for all of her children and grandchildrens' special events, such as football, baseball, basketball, recitals and cheerleading events.
Celia served as a Union Stewardess dedicated to improving wages, hours and working conditions of employees. Celia had a special love for children. She was a teacher's assistant for Northside Independent School District working in various classrooms. Her last years were spent at the alternative school for NISD.
Celia was always the "life of the party". She enjoyed dancing from the jitterbug to pop and cumbias. On her 90th birthday, she was dancing with her sons.
Celia was brought up in La Trinidad Methodist Church. She loved Christian music and looked forward to attending church every Sunday up until the time she was no longer able to attend.
Celia is survived by her fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Cattarusa, her parents, Cruz and Dionicia Mendoza, and her younger brother, Sam C. Mendoza. Celia is also survived by her sisters, Tina M. Guerra, Lily M. Carrillio, Rosie M. Guerra, (Raul), Yolanda M. Rivera and her brother, Cruz Mendoza, Jr. The family would like to thank the nieces and nephews of the Mendoza, Jimenez and Muniz families for all their support and love throughout the years. We would like to thank the caregivers, especially, Patricia Sanchez for the loving care that she gave our mother for over nine (9) years.
A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, August 8, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, located at 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, Texas 78230 to be followed by a prayer service and celebration of Celia's life to begin at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Interment to follow in San Fernando Cemetery III. Pastor Feagins of La Trinidad Methodist Church will officiate at funeral service.
