Chad Alting passed away on April 28, 2024, after a long illness, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. This is the loss of an extraordinary soul, an angel on earth whose kindness, warmth, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Chad was more than a friend; he was a loving father and grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, and a cherished presence in our lives. With a heart as big as the open sky, Chad lived by the mantra "We are making a memory," which he was frequently known to say. He appreciated life every day and helped others do the same. Chad held a deep wisdom and faith, feeling closest to God whenever he stepped outside. He found beauty in the simplest of things, loving everything to do with nature – the trees, the river, the rocks, and the flowers. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his beloved daughter, Faith, whom he adored beyond measure. From the time she was born, Chad had her on the river or in the woods, sharing his love and deep knowledge of how to catch a fish, find a mushroom, or shoot a deer. Chad was a talented taxidermist and true master of the land and the river. His bravery and strength were legendary. From picking up beavers with bare hands to navigating the waters with unparalleled skill, he was a force of nature in his own right. He could find his way down the river blindfolded because he knew every curve and rock well, often saying, "I don't need to see where I'm going; I just need to remember where I've been." Chad had so many special friends and could be counted on whenever needed, the friend you could trust to share your deepest secrets or dreams. No matter his own circumstances, Chad never complained, but focused on the good in life. He loved the time spent with his special girlfriend, Jennifer, with whom he shared a deep love, caring, and respect. Chad's legacy is one of love, laughter, and boundless adventure. He taught us to embrace each moment, find joy in the smallest things, and cherish the ones we hold dear. Chad is survived by his loving and devoted family, including his daughter Faith (Cody) Alderman; grandchildren Josie, Beau, and Lowe; Step-grandchildren Jaxson and Eli Alderman; his loving partner Jennifer Clark; parents Michael and Bonnie Alting; Siblings Rockney Alting and Rainey (Brian) Jones; Nephews Kalvin and Walker; Many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who adored him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert & Patricia Eylens, Bo & Estelle Alting; and Great-grandmother Dorothy Males. A private celebration of life will be hosted by the family.

My first memory of Chad was my time spent on the river in my parents home. He decided to take me fishing. I´m not an outdoors person and within minutes had tangled up my line and his. He never took me fishing again. He will truly be missed. His was fun, energetic and a very caring soul. Dr. Jamie Linville (Wiegand)

My family shared many memories with Chad. My middle son looking to him as a father figite for the beginning years of his life. We planted 8 apple trees in his name yesterday! He will always be remembered for his love for his daughter, nature and his family. And we will remember him by doing the same.

Who set, between those rocks like cinder,
to show the honey of dream,
that golden broom,
those blue rosemaries?
Who painted the purple mountains
and the saffron, sunset sky?
The hermitage, the beehives,
the cleft of the river
the endless rolling water deep in rocks,
the pale-green of new fields,
all of it, even the white and pink
under the almond trees!

Chad Michael i will always remember the countless hours becoming one with nature and the love you shared with it. Im so sad to hear of your passing and emotions are flowing.  I know you know the love I always have had for you. I wouldn't have ever settled for anything less! Praying for your family as they walk through this season. I want to say you will forever be remembered for these beautiful things. Today ill find a rock and think of you.  Sit beside the River and take it in. Count the deer I pass.  Hold my loved ones tight! My last words to you would be, Jesus loves you and so do I!
