Chad A. Gibbs

Chad A. Gibbs, 49, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded by his family. Chad was born on October 31, 1976, the son of Thomas and Bonnie Gibbs.

Chad was a 1995 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and later graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in PLC technology. He worked for several years as Plant Manager at Cimbar in Mt. Vernon.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves. His love of sports was often paired with his enjoyment of DraftKings, where he liked betting on his favorite teams. Chad also enjoyed catching up with friends at local sports bars.

At home, Chad cherished time with his beloved cats and had begun mastering his 3D printer, constantly creating different items for family and friends. He especially enjoyed taking his daughter on the many cruises they shared together, creating memories that she will treasure for a lifetime. Above all, he was a devoted family man who deeply cherished the time he spent with his daughter and loved ones.

Chad is survived by his daughter, Bella Gibbs; his parents, Tom and Bonnie Gibbs; siblings, Jeff (Erica) Gibbs, Zach (Kendle) Gibbs, Tommy (Mary Jo) Gibbs, and Mike (Carrie) Gibbs; his lifelong best friend, Dennis Stone; his little buddy, Jameson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Gibbs; and his grandparents, Armenius and Zoe Templeton, and Leland and Annabell Gibbs.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Tom Kessler officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chad's daughter, Bella, to assist with her future education.
