Chad Miller

Chad W. Miller, or "Chadly" as he was known to some, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Chad was born on March 1, 1982, and married Michelle Phillips on June 24, 2021. He worked as a forklift driver at Nascote Industries in Nashville, and he enjoyed working with his wife and work friends. A certified mechanic and true car enthusiast, he was happiest with a wrench in his hand. Chad often worked on vehicles, tinkering in his garage with Nickelback or Jelly Roll playing in the background. He was the kind of guy who would fix your car for nothing, as long as you brought him a good home cooked meal. He was a great listener, and often gave good wisdom when a problem was brought to him.

Big and burly but a teddy bear at heart, Chad was blessed with a great sense of humor and an even better laugh. He had great capacity for his family, giving of himself fully for those he loved. He loved watching SpongeBob with his grandkids, took pride in cutting his grass and trimming up his yard just right, and could often be found enjoying a little gaming, or a quiet evening on the porch, when the work was done. Chad will be deeply missed by his family and all those who loved him, especially his furry friends Tank McSniffles and Bob.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Michelle Miller; his step-children, Jeremy, Nick, Kyle, Reno, and Cheyenne; his grandchildren, Elijah and Sophie; two brothers and two sisters; his father-in-law, Robert F. Phillips; his in-laws, John Phillips, Robert D. Phillips (Mary), Mike Phillips, and Matt Phillips (Dawn); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Judy Phillips; a brother, Chris Miller; his in-laws, Jennifer Phillips, Sandy Phillips and Mark Hesson; and a nephew, Spencer Crafton.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL. A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Miller are suggested to the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received through Zieren Funeral Home.
