Chad Ohm Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wyman Cremation & Burial Chapel on Mar. 7, 2026.
Chad Alan Ohm died on February 13, 2026 at home with family after a long illness. He was 56 years old. Chad was preceded in death by his parents Janet and Jerry Ohm and a sister Heidi Adams (Louie). He is survived by a much-loved son Alex, sister Melanie Ohm (Jeff Stevens), sister Sarah Berriman, brothers Joel Ohm and Lon Ohm (Shelly), and ex-wife Melissa Marion-Ohm.

Chad grew up in Wisconsin and Iowa, and always loved being outdoors, working with tools and his environment in physical ways. His various businesses over the years reflected his range of interests. First, he purchased a combine as a teenager and ran a successful business hiring out to area farmers during harvest. After leaving Iowa, Chad lived in Chicago, Dallas, and Seattle, eventually moving to Oregon, and finally, Arizona. In Chicago, he worked in the modeling industry as a model, teaching classes for models, and assisting a photographer. In Dallas before digitization overtook the industry, he ran a photo finishing studio for professional photographers, an extension of his experience in the modeling industry. In the Seattle area, Chad had several contracting businesses. One of the things he was proud of was that a number of his employees got in touch with him years later to say "thank you" for showing them how to run a business that would support their families.

When Chad left Seattle, it was to help a sick friend for a year. After that, he moved to Oregon, worked enough to make a living, buy and develop a property, and help others in his small community. When his health imploded, he and his fur-baby Nookie moved on to Arizona to live with Melanie and Jeff.

Chad could be quiet and introspective one minute and the center of a party the next. He was the first to say that he was not always a kind person, yet many people knew his kindness and generosity. He loved music and books. Chad read voraciously and had an extensive music collection. He was a drummer and played for his own pleasure most of his life. He also shared stories about being in the right place at the right time to have conversations with famous musicians, and even being invited to jam with them on drums on occasion. Chad was a complicated, private person who enjoyed people and a good story. His pleasure and laughter in telling one of his elaborate tales is unforgettable.
