Charity Ellen Sims, 16, of Compton, left this earth for her Heavenly Home on October 14. Charity lived her short life to the fullest every single day. Charity had a heart that was too big for this world. She was full of love and compassion for every person she met and every animal around her. She offered a warm embrace, a helping hand and prayer everywhere she went. Her kindness and generosity in her short life will forever be remembered and cherished.
Charity attended Alpena High School where she was determined to excel at everything she put her mind to. She was involved in soccer at a young age. She participated in band at school; she had fun in archery with her brother Evan. Charity was part of FBLA and FCCLA where she enjoyed learning and making new friends. Charity talked about her early mornings in cross country/track, and how she was very proud of her accomplishments. Charity was an avid reader and spent many hours tucked into good books.
Charity was looking forward to volunteering in upcoming events in her local community and walking as Sophomore Homecoming Maid. Charity had plans to go to college to become an Elementary School Teacher. She was shadowing many of the teachers in the elementary school because she was passionate about becoming a teacher. She often spent time volunteering at a local daycare as well.
Charity loved to be in the kitchen cooking and making sweet treats for her family and friends. She loved having her family together for family dinners and tea parties. Charity took pride in being "Tia" to all her Nieces and Nephews, even if they were older than her. She loved doing crafts, drawing and painting. She had her own little art gallery at home. She recently took up sewing, making herself a quilt and working on other projects.
Charity is survived by her parents Ronald and Rose Sims and Rachel Williamson-Proctor, brothers, Evan, Donald, and Tristin; sisters, Sarah, Danielle, Susan and Cameron; her many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and great grandparents. She leaves behind many friends and church family who she loved and adored dearly, and likewise.
Charity would have wanted a Celebration, so we will be honoring her by holding a Celebration
of Life at Union Baptist Church, 3021 Hwy 206 E, near Harrison on Thursday, October 23 at 2 p.m. Pastor Bill Melton and Pastor Matthew Rose will officiate.
The "Charity Ellen Sims Memorial Fund" is set up at CS Bank. A plaque honoring Charity and a Japanese Cherry Blossom Tree will be planted in Memoriam at one of her favorite places, Sims Rock, on the family property.
