Charleene (Char) L. Fant passed away on August 31, 2025. Char was born on June 8, 1930 in Chicago, IL. to Clara LaDuc and Basil Dean Hart. She graduated from Whitney High School in 1948.

Char was always interested in music, singing for many years in the church choir. Eventually, she became an organist, playing popular music in various venues, as well as teaching students to love organ music. It was her passion and became her profession.

Char had many interests, including reading, shopping, gardening, sewing and crafting. She loved the Toledo Zoo, and walking at Wildwood Park. She was a member of a water aerobics group who exercised together several times a week all year round for decades. She developed close friendships with many members and loved their special activities like Birthday Month-cake and lunch to honor those monthly birthdays in the group. Char was known as a diminutive, but feisty and opinionated member. She was still participating until May of this year.

Above everything else, Char loved being with family. A water lover, she loved traveling to places with warm, sunny weather, a pool or beach. Attendance at grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities was also a big part of her life. Making crafts with her great grandchildren was something she always cherished. Family birthdays were always special to her, and notifying family to not forget someone's birthday was a job she took seriously.

Char is survived by her daughter, Karen, son in law Mike, three grandchildren, Tanya Braden (RJ), Ted Fischer (Emily), and Jennifer Fischer (Marc); eight great grandchildren; Allison (Ryan), Corinne, Joseph (Julissa), Kyle, Colette, Paiton, Paxton, and Lukis, all of whom were a great source of pride and joy.

Char was preceded in death by her husband Forrest (Ed), her parents, two brothers, and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of NW Ohio.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.
