Char lene Dee Bratis

On Wednesday September 28, 2022, Charlene Dee Bratis, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at the age of 76 in her home in Mesquite, NV. Charlene was born on August 12, 1946, in Pasadena, CA, to Charles Maurice Petitt and Margaret Levonne Miller. She was raised in Duarte, CA. and after graduation from highschool she attended vocational college to become a Dental Hygienist. She was a dental hygienist for over 20 years and as her career grew she became the regional manager of a big corporate dental company and worked in the dental field until she decided to retire and become a homemaker.

In 1962 when she was 16 years old, she married her first husband Lloyd Devon McKinley and they had three children together. They divorced. She then married the love of her life John Peter Bratis on April 19,1985 and spent 30 wonderful years together. In 2014, Charlene and John decided to just be friends and even though they were divorced the two of them never remarried and always spent time together. John was by her side a few days before she passed away. Charlene enjoyed volunteering at her church. She loved doing arts and crafts. She loved going to car shows and looking at all the oldies. She loved going to the movies. She loved going to the Orange County fair every year in California. She also loved going to Knotts Berry Farm, Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Big bear, Calico mines, Pismo Beach, Glamis, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. She loved to travel to Mexico, Hawaii, Sedona, AZ and Chicago, Illinois.

Charlene is survived by her Daughters, Connie Rae Brown, Sherri Lynn McKinley, and her son Michael Devon McKinley. Her grandchildren Nichole Marie Urbina, Shane Devon Brown, Wesly Owen Brown, and Austin Wyatt Brown who are Connie’s children. Vaughn McKinley, Sabrina McKinley and Chloe McKinley who are Sherri’s children. Devon Graves, Savannah Rose McKinley, Blaze Lauren Vanderlinden, Christian Devon McKinley, and Koranna Imohff who are Michael’s children. Her great grandchildren Christian Michael Paulsen, Jaiden Irene Paulsen who are Nichole’s children. Severus Devon Brown, Maddison Katherine Brown and Benjamin Hunter Brown who are Shane’s children. Her two brothers Rick and John. Her long time best friend and ex husband John Bratis. She is preceded by death by her parents and both sets of grandparents and by her sister.

As a family, we are deeply saddened and heartbroken by our loss and she will truly be missed. She will forever be remembered and in our hearts.

We will have a celebration of life at her church on October 16, 2022 at 2 pm at River Valley Bible Church. Located at 322 E. Hafen Lane, Mesquite, NV 89027.
