Charlene Michael Dunlavy, 92, passed away at home surrounded by family on March 5, 2023.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Charlene moved to California with her husband, Bill and her three children in 1958. She and her husband opened Dunlavy's Jewelry in Porterville, but Charlene also pursued a Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential from Fresno State. She taught 3rd grade at Richgrove Elementary School for over 30-years, retiring in 2001.

An avid reader, Charlene enjoyed book club meetings, which also provided her the opportunity to host gatherings in her home. Charlene loved hosting family parties and holidays, especially Christmas, always going the extra mile to make her home beautiful and the event spectacular for everyone. She liked antiquing and playing cards, both of which allowed her to spend time with family, her favorite pastime.

Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Dunlavy; her grandson, Drayton Stewart; her sister, Helen Michael Abercrombie and her brother, Henry L. Michael. She is survived by her 3 children, Connie Dunlavy Moore, Debra Dunlavy DeFeo, and Bill Dunlavy, all of Porterville; her 2 granddaughters, Julie Dennis Davis and Melissa Brannen Walker; her sister, Mary Michael Munoz; her two nieces, Lisa Muoz Rice and Sandra Abercrombie Pace; her nephew, Sam Muoz; her 6 great-grandchildren and her 8 great, great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 10am, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Porterville District Cemetery, 1013 E. Olive Ave, Porterville. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the home of Charlene's daughter Connie Moore, at 1237 S. Indiana St., Porterville.
