Charlene (Terry) Pope was born on August 10, 1944, in Sacramento, California. She was the last child, out of ten, and was already an aunt when she came into this world. She was born to William Charles Terry and Zee Marie (Moore) Terry.
Charlene made her way to Texas in her mid-20’s with three children from a previous marriage. She met her eternal companion and married Michael Pope, Sr., then babies #4 & #5 entered this world.
Charlene was blessed with a full-time job of mother and homemaker. In her spare time, she loved to serve others. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings over the years, which kept her busy. She and her husband, Michael, had planned to serve a mission together, but the Lord had other plans for them both…The Lord called Michael Pope, Sr. home. Charlene still wanted to serve a full-time mission. She fulfilled that mission in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was called to serve a genealogy mission. Other than her children, one of her greatest accomplishments was serving that mission.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Charles Terry and Zee Marie (Moore) Terry; her husband, Michael Herscel Pope, Sr.; her daughter, Beverly Ann (Lund) Jones; and all of her siblings EXCEPT Dick Terry.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Bob Lund of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, Patricia Ann (Lund) Holt and Wayne Holt of Fort Worth, Christi LeAnn (Pope) Hilton and Jerry Dean Hilton of Celina, Texas, and Michael Pope, Jr. of Roy, Utah; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
