Guest Book
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Ables, Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at Oak Grove Methodist Church with Bro. Kenny Perry and Bro. Darrell Ridgely officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior, from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Charles, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at his home in Trenton, TN, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Goodman, MS, to the late Yather Palmer and Mary Etta (Cain) Ables. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he dedicated himself to serving his country. Following his military service, he pursued small business ownership, most notably with Pappy’s Drive In and Farmers Market Grocery in Milan. Throughout his life, he worked in the construction and farming industries across the nation. He was also an active member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in the Edison Community of Gibson County.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 59 years, Linda (Koffman) Ables; brother, William Earl Ables; sisters, Euna Murray and Doris Jobe; son-in-law, Brad Sweetman.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Scott and husband David, Charles “Chuck” Ables, Jr. and wife Cathy, Pam McCall and husband Ray, Charla Sweetman; eleven grandchildren, Mark Seavers, Brandon Seavers, Chris Seavers, Justin Sullivan, Cory Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Noah Shelton, Alex Ables, Adam Ables, Austin Breese, Alexis Rawls; nineteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Oak Grove Cemetery Association, 1402 Bradford Dr., Humboldt, TN 38343
