Charles Bayman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt Cremations & Funeral Services on Mar. 30, 2026.
Charles Leroy Bayman, born on June 15, 1934, in Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Athena, Oregon. He was 91 years old. Charles graduated from McLoughlin Union High School and went on to attend Oregon State University in Corvallis. His life was marked by dedication and service, beginning with his time in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. During his military service, he served aboard the USS Boyd during the Korean conflict, a period that shaped his sense of duty and commitment. Following his honorable service in the Navy, Charles embarked on a successful career as an industrial engineer with Kennecott Copper Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later, he became a quality control engineer for Rockwell International, where he worked diligently until his retirement in February 1993. His professional life reflected his meticulous nature and strong work ethic. Charles shared a remarkable and enduring love story with his beloved wife, Shirley, to whom he was married on August 24, 1958. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, raising two children and creating nearly six decades of cherished memories. Their 59 years of marriage stood as a testament to their deep bond, lasting until Shirley's passing in 2017, and remaining a lasting source of pride and love in Charles's life. Charles found joy and fulfillment in many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and target shooter who cherished time spent outdoors. His woodworking skills were admired by those who knew him, and he participated in charity bike rides that showcased his generous spirit. One of his greatest pleasures was traveling with his beloved wife Shirley, creating memories that spanned decades. Family was central to Charles's life. He is survived by his sister, Donna pierce; son, Lyndon; his daughter, Tracie; his daughter in law, Mary; and his grandchildren David, Anthony, Leslie, Mathew, and Lance. He was predeceased in death by his father Roy Bayman; mother Ann Brusick; and wife Shirley Bayman. Charles's legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and a love for life's simple pleasures. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
