A celebration of life will be held 11 am Friday March 17, 2023 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 am. A private burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie at a later date.
Fred was born December 10, 1946 in Yukon Florida. His parents were Richard Loren and Florence Marie (Scholtz) Benedict. He was united in marriage to Sandra Hunter at the Tonganoxie Christian Church on February 14, 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He worked for Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, KS before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Tonganoxie Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda M. Gingerich and brother, Richard L. Benedict, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Benedict, of the home; one son Eric (Mindy) Benedict, Tonganoxie; one daughter, Amy (Jamie) Lawson, Tonganoxie; one sister, Donna Cummins, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Hunter, and Mason.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Wounded Warriors or the Tonganoxie Christian Church.
