Charles Bennett Obituary

Published by Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory Westwood, CA FD1005 - Westwood on Dec. 21, 2016.
Westwood resident Charles Aubrey "Chuck" Bennett unexpectedly passed from this life to join his mother and sister in their eternal home for Christmas, on Wednesday afternoon, December 21st, 2016 at his home. Born in Chico. CA on March 26, 1962 to Robert and Shirley (Williams) Bennett, at age three he and his family relocated to the Northeastern California community of Westwood where Chuck attended grammar school and high school graduating from Westwood High School as a member of the "Class of 1980". While attending high school he lettered in football, wrestling and golf. Chuck enlisted in the United States Navy's delayed entry program and within a week of his high school graduation began a fourteen year career serving his country with the Navy's elite Seabee's. While stationed in Corpus Christi, TX he was introduced to a pretty young fellow seaman named Patricia Lynn Frantz. As their love for one another blossomed the couple was united in matrimony on May 4, 1985 in Corpus Christi, TX. Upon leaving the service with his honorable discharge Chuck shortly thereafter in 1994 began a career with the California Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer currently working at the Salt Creek Camp in Paskent, CA. Chuck was a devoted father who loved to "Drag" his family behind their boat at Lake Almanor, while also enjoying fishing and the challenge of a good round of golf. He served his community as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, as well as volunteering at the Westwood High School. He is a former member of the Westwood Rotary and a current Member of the Chester Post of the American Legion. In his untimely passing he leaves his partner, best friend and loving wife of thirty one years; Patricia of Westwood, daughters; Katrina King of Jacksonville, FL, Amanda Alegrete and her husband Mike of Westwood, Tracy McCann and her husband Shawn of Westwood, and Emily and Destiney Bennett both of Westwood and father and step mother; Robert and Anna Bennett of Westwood. He was the proud grandfather to both Erynn and Andrew Alegrete while also being survived by a brother David Bennett of Crescent City, CA. Chuck joins his mother; Shirley and sister; Dawn in their eternal home. A celebration of Chuck's life to include Military Honors is planned for 1:00PM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Westwood Community Center with a reception to follow. My heart is breaking for Patty and the girls. Who didn't love Chuckie! I knew him from school as a sweet and genuine soul who always had a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. My husband Daren knew him as a man who did his job with honesty and integrity. Dearest Chuck, you will be forever missed.

Such a heartbreak for all who knew Chuck and his family. We were shocked to learn of his sudden death at too young of an age. Memories abound of events with him, his siblings, and parents. We are praying for strength and God's grace and love for all those loved ones who survive him.

Patty and Family,
My prayers and thoughts are with you and the family. I remember Chuck as being a kind and thoughtful man who loved his family unconditionally. He was a person who loved life and made people laugh. My family remembers the fun and games he played with them when we were neighbors on the Millington Naval base. Treasure the memories and will always be with you and the family.

Bennett family,

I would like to extend my condolences on your loss. I had known Chuck since 1999 when I first went out to Trinity River Camp. He was the 1st Watch voice that all campers remember as professional and very helpful . When he came out to Camp I was excited for him and knew he would be an asset to Salt Creek. He far exceeded those expectations. When we hosted him at our camp it was like we never had to worry about his crews because he had it organized. What a good cop and friend. He will sadly missed, a loss to all that knew him.
Again I'm sorry for your family's loss.
Sincerely
C/O Dennis Swope
