Charles W. Bogenreif, 94, of Elmwood died Sunday November 6, 2022, at Aviva Woodlands in Lincoln. Charlie was born in rural
Elmwood, NE on January 14, 1928, to Walter W. and Nellie (Gambell) Bogenreif. He grew up on the farm west of Elmwood and was one of 14 children.
Charlie met Evelyn Moore at a basketball game and began dating her. The two were married in Nebraska City
on December 24, 1946 and were married for sixty-six years.Evelyn passed away on July 12, 2012.
Charlie was a 32-year maintenance foreman at Northern Natural Gas Palmyra, a farmer, woodworker, and handyman.
He enjoyed raising and training Appaloosa horses. He and Evelyn had many friends and loved going dancing and playing cards. He made many wooden yard figures, built bird houses with grandkids and he could fix anything with a little baling wire.
His contagious laugh and smile were his lifelong trademark. He was a long-time member of Elmwood Christian Church.
Charlie is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Robert) Clements of Elmwood NE, a son, Chuck (Sue) Bogenreif of
Lincoln NE. Nine Grandchildren Jim Martin, Andy (Casey) Clements, Tom (Lindsay) Clements, Mary (Joe)
Humphries, Sarah (Adam) Mayo, Debbie (Justin) Williams, Wes (Heather) Bogenreif, Kristen (Justin) Parks,
and Jenna Dragoo. Eighteen Great Grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife Evelyn, Daughter Mary Ann Pierson, Infant daughter Betty Jean,
and thirteen siblings. Memorials to Elmwood Senior Center and Elmwood Christian Church.
