Charles "Chuck" Jared Boyer left his earthly home on Sunday, November 23, 2025. He was born in Canton, IL on January 4, 1945 to Oscar and Evelyn (Keown) Boyer. He graduated from Canton Senior High School in 1963.
Chuck and Susan (Banister) were married on September 1, 1967. He was drafted into the Army in July 1968, serving with the 505th Infantry and 82nd Airborne Divisions in Vietnam until July 1970. He earned 5 medals including a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He returned to Canton, where he began working for Hershel Manufacturing in Peoria, IL. In 1974, he and Susan moved to Iowa where he continued to work for Hershel for a total of 30+ years.
Chuck and Susan enjoyed traveling - Brussels, Belgium; to the many Cousins Reunions with his brother, cousins and their wives; and spending winters for the last 15+ years in Florida. He was a lifelong St Louis Cardinals fan and a lifetime member of the Canton American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and watching all sports events on TV.
Chuck died at EveryStep Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Curtis. He is survived by Susan, his loving wife of 58 years, and his brother's wife Cheri Boyer.
Chuck's Last Goodbye will be held on Thursday, December 4, at the Camelot West Clubhouse, located at 1440 -20th St, West Des Moines from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. At the time of Susan's death, his cremains will be buried with her at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL.
