Charles Allen Brackney

Charles Allen "Chuck" Brackney passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on December 8, 1963, he was the beloved son of the late Charles Earl Brackney and Lorraine Anne (Filipski) Brackney.

As a child, his parents affectionately called him "Charlie Brown," but to all who knew him throughout his life, he was Chuck. He was a great athlete, playing football and baseball through his youth, and even broke a long-standing rushing record at St. Mary Magdalen. A proud graduate of Aquinas High School, Class of 1982, Chuck went on to dedicate 25 years of hard work to Ford Motor Company-spending 18 years in the Milan Plant and 7 years at the Woodhaven Forging Plant. A proud member of the UAW, he built lifelong friendships and strong bonds with his coworkers, who were like brothers to him.

Chuck's greatest joy was his family. He shared a deep and lasting love with his wife, Florence "Flo" Brackney. Their story began as children at church and school at St Mary Magdalen, only to reconnect years later when Chuck found himself in Florence's dental chair. Their marriage blossomed into a partnership full of faith, laughter, and devotion. Together, they raised two children, Christopher Charles (Jacqueline) Brackney and Ava Elizabeth Brackney, who were the pride of his life.

He is also survived by his sister, Beth (Michael) Morris; Aunt Patricia Kemp and her loving husband Bob, who was like a father to him; his aunt, Mary Jayne; several cousins; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Holder.

Chuck's home was always filled with love-including that of which extended to his dogs Toby-a shelty and Milo-a Jack Russell Terrier, and his dad's dog Mandy-a black lab, who all brought him endless joy.

A man of many passions, Chuck loved fishing, music and concerts, woodworking, and cooking-but most of all he loved his family. Chuck was deeply proud of his son Chris, who continued his legacy working at Ford. He admired the man Chris had become, and the two shared a connection through their love of music. Chuck passed down the family secret for the best scrambled eggs and Chris carries on the tradition to this day. He also shared an especially close bond with his beloved daughter Ava, whom he lovingly called "Peaches." He took great pride in her accomplishments as a nurse reminding her that hard work and determination is what got her there. He knew she would spend a lifetime helping people and often showed his admiration by wearing a shirt that read, "My favorite nurse calls me Dad." Known for having strong opinions, Chuck also had a quiet, steadfast faith and lived by the motto: "The right thing is always the easiest thing to do." He believed in hard work, loyalty, and above all, putting his family first.

Chuck cherished his family, his faith, and his country. His memory will live on in the love of Florence, Chris, Ava, and all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park. Time of Rosary prayers will be updated shortly.

Instate will follow the next day on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 11:30 a.m. until Funeral Mass, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Melvindale.

Cremation will take place after Mass and Chuck's remains will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown.
