Charles E. Brown, 83, Marion, passed away at 1:59 am on Saturday, November 29, 2025. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 31, 1942, to Virgil William and Irene Pearl Brown. On June 21, 1974, he married Cathy James, and she survives. Charles attended Sweetser High School and served proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked as a machine repairman at Ball Foster and drove the church bus and taught Sunday School for many years at Westside Assembly and later was a devoted member of Lighthouse Assembly. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He loved fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting, but most of all cherished reading his Bible, watching sports, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and meant the world to him.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Brown of Marion; daughters, Melissa S. (Bryon) Winters of Upland, Amy Dorris of Noblesville; son, Michael (Raeanna) Brown of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Cheryl Young of Upland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil William and Irene Pearl Brown; daughter, Melissa R. Katterheinrich; and 7 siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Lighthouse Assembly 5909 S. Jay St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Charles' life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Gallaway officiating.
Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Marion National Cemetery 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, IN.
