Charles "Charlie" Glenn Obituary

Visit the Riemann Family Funeral Home - Long Beach website to view the full obituary.

Charles James Glenn, Charlie to everyone who knew and loved him, was born on November 20, 1969 at the Gulfport Seabee Base, which was not planned. Charlie came into this world doing things his own way which is how he lived the majority of his life.

Charlie was a proud life long native of Long Beach. He was a graduate of Long Beach High School and joined the United States Coast Guard where he served his country proudly. Once he returned to the Coast, Charlie attended MGCCC and received his HVAC degree. Charlie spent many years in the warehouse industry where he was the happiest. He was happily employed by Triton Industries and loved his Triton Family.

Charlie was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and also had a special place in his heart for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Charlie held the title of 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Some of his favorite memories were working the bingos and bartending at the Knights of Columbus Hall prior to Katrina.

Charle met Jennifer later in his life and together they created and raised a beautiful, blended family. Our family motto was always “DNA doesn’t make a family, love does.” Together, Charlie and Jennifer always made it a point to maintain and foster healthy relationships which each other’s extended families.

His entire world changed when his first grandson, Dean Aubrey Glenn was born! PaPaw was definitely the most important title he ever received!

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Olen Glenn and Janice Ladner Glenn (Bob Lott); his paternal grandparents, James Weathers Glenn and Bonnie Rae Anders Glenn, his maternal grandparents, Henry James Ladner and Elsie Ladner Brannan; Father in Law, James Raymond O’Neal; and grandson, Brooks James Ferrell.

Charlie leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Jennifer O’Neal Glenn; his four sons, Charles Brandon Glenn (Jessica Rickney), Joseph Bradley Glenn, Wesley Nicolais Ferrell and Thomas Lloyd Ferrell; sister, Rita Glenn Ferguson (Darrel) and brother, Randolph Glenn; his mothers-in-law, Vetter Ann O’Neal and Cynthia Annette O’Neal; sister-in-Law, Crysta O’Neal: cherished grandchildren, Dean Aubrey Glenn, Asher RIckney, Aerilyn Rickney, and Chloe Lowell; his cherished great-niece, Brooklyn Belle Bute who gave him the name of her Unkie and always reminded him that he was wrapped around her little finger. Charlie also leaves behind his previous daughter-in-law, Paige Rose (Dustin) and her daughter, Scarlett that Charlie always claimed as one his grandbabies. As well as Joseph’s mother, Angela Schepens Waltman (Charles).

There are a plethora of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and “outlaws” and extended family that are also left behind to remember Charlie.

Charlie will always be remembered as sporting his Hawaiian shirts, khakis and top siders. Feel free to wear your best Hawaiian attire as you come to celebrate the life of Charlie Glenn.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Long Beach, MS from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Coast Cares Foundation for the Charles J Glenn Scholarship and Military Banner Fund.

The family would love to take this time to thank the Long Beach Fire Department as well as the Long Beach Police Department for their professionalism and dignity shown to our family. We would also love to thank Jason Green with Riemann Funeral Home for all of his assistance and guidance during this difficult time.
