Tonight at the 169th annual convention in Dallas of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, a tribute and thank you was paid to Yardley. He has earned a special place in all of our hearts for his wonderful appearances at convention over the years.

I would have really liked to have been related to this guy, however remotely. My Mother was Blanche Chittick born in Peoria, Ill. When asked her maiden name she would say, "Chittick, but be careful how you pronounce it!"

I didn't know Charles but I recently saw him on television. He was laughing and enjoying life. God has finally taken home is son and we should rejoice in knowing that he lived a great life. I send my deepest sympathy to his family members. God Bless you all and know that he is at peace. Ronnette (MA)

He spurred us on to determine our mutual link; although we haven't yet been successful we'll keep trying. At 105, when I last saw him, he hadn't lost any of his wit and rougishness. We'll miss him.

I did not know Charles, or have even heard of him until now, but reading about him makes me wish I could have met him. I kind of hate to say it, but his obituary made me smile and kind of chuckle. He sounds like a wonderful man who lead a full, happy life.

It is always sad to lose a loved one, but Charles Y. Chittick was blessed to live not only the 107 years, but to have lived such an accomplished life along the way.

May his memory help ease your sorrow, yet, to also allow his being, to be a guideline for those whom he has left behind.

May he now rest in peace.

I am envious of those who knew you and were close to you. It is time to rest now, and I pray that someone has recorded ( even in their heads) all of your wonderful stories!

Psalms 91:14-16 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.(KJV)

I LOVE people like this, who take life and live it to its fullest and then remember their stories to tell to the 'next generation'. I imagine that the angels are howling with laughter at Mr. Chittick's tales about now. Rest in peace-you earned it!

He sounds like a most delightful man. I wish I had the chance to have known or at least had a few hours to listen to his stories about life so long ago..... so many links to our past are going away. It makes me sad. May Mr. Chittick rest in peace and his family find comfort in his long and fruitful life.

To the family Of Charels, so sorry for the loss of your loved one. he must have been a great person to know. you are so lucky to have had him for such a long time. he must have been a living history book. I wish I could have met him. He has been on the earth for 107 years, wow, that is something. he has seen every thing from horse and wagon, to rocket ships. Charles had a full life that is for sure. May God hold dear Charels close to his heart forever in heaven. I read a saying that reminded me of this occasion. it is, (Do not shed a tear for me because I am gone, smile, because you knew me).
