Charles (Chuck) Townsend, Jr., 85, passed away at home, December 5,2024. He was born August 9, 1939, to Charles and Lucille (Elgin) Townsend in Elgin, IL. Married Karen Moore, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, May 12, 1962. He lived in Hillsdale, Michigan during his high school years. He was a big Detroit Lions fan. Chuck joined the Army shortly after graduation in 1957 and served for two years before moving to Chicago to live with his Dad. Thus, he became a big Chicago Cub fan. He worked in Chicago as a warehouse supervisor until he retired in 2003 to Algoma, WI. Chuck enjoyed many rounds of golf at Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg, WI. Also, had a winter retirement home in Gilbert, AZ., where he was able to attend the grandchildren's activities for many years.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Sherri (Troy) Nelson, of Chandler, AZ, Leah (Mark) Friedman, of Scottsdale, AZ, and son, Chuck E. Townsend III, of Portland, OR; grandsons, Benjamin Nelson, Jack Friedman, Luke Friedman and granddaughter, Erin Nelson; sisters, Mary Jane Manges, of Michigan, and Margaret Bowers, of South Carolina. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Townsend.
Chuck's wishes were to have a Celebration of Life this summer.
