Charles Howard Clark

Charles Howard Clark, a World War II veteran, an employee of the Sheraton Hotel Corporation for most of his adult life, and a beloved husband, father and grandfather died in Burlington, Vermont on July 17th at the age of 90. He was born on September 29th 1919 in Baltimore, MD and lived in Harmon MD with his parents John and Etta and siblings Wilmer, Edwin, Mildred, Dorothy, and William (Champ). He served in Europe in the United States Army during World War II and in 2007 traveled back to Normandy, France to visit the site of the D-day invasion in which he participated. After returning from the war he earned a degree in accounting and became a CPA. He lived in Needham MA for over 50 years and served the Sheraton Corporation in many professional capacities during his 40 years of employment. In retirement he enjoyed cooking, photography, painting, bridge, tennis, woodworking, gardening, traveling and entertaining his many friends and family. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy. They were married for 57 years and had two children, Barbara who married James Robinson of Essex, Vermont and John who married Ellen Andrews and live in Hamden Connecticut. He leaves three grandchildren Julia Robinson of Barre, VT, James Robinson and his wife Melissa from Acton MA and Christopher Clark of Hamden CT. He is also survived by his brother Champ and his wife Maxine of Linthicum MD, his sisters-in-law Helen Orem of Bethesda MD and Marie Garvey of Timonium MD, brother-in-law Robert Stevens of Anchorage AK and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral Services will be held in the Eaton Funral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Thursday, July 22 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
