On Thursday, December, 7, 2023 Charles Benford Crowder was welcomed by our Lord and Savior, surrounded by loving family at Ben Hur Health and Rehab. He was born on August 16, 1937 to Basil Otis Crowder, Sr. and Helena (Clark) Crowder.
Charles was graduate of Wallace High School, Class of 1955. He worked as an assistant pressman at RR Donnelly's for 32 years, retiring in 1999. Charles was a member of the Grace of God Fellowship in Kingman and the Kingman American Legion.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Kimmie (Dewaine) Bowling, LaDonna (Gary) Edmiston, Candy Crowder, Artie (Gary) White, Vickie (Bob) Hargrave; sons, Carl (Jaime) Crowder, Danny (Dawn) Cummings, David (Rita) Cummings; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bradley (Beth) Crowder and Basil Crowder, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elise Myers; sons, Richard Crowder, Larry Cummings; granddaughters, Jessica White and Samantha J. Bowling; grandson, Israel Cummings; great grandson, Keaton Michael James Cox; sister, Jean (Claude) Martin; and brother, Carl Crowder.
Charles loved his family very much. He will be so deeply missed by them all. He met so many people during his lifetime and he made an impact on all of them in some way or another. Charles never met a stranger; he knew everyone and everyone knew him.
He loved fishing (was pretty good at this too), coon hunting (and he was pretty darn good at it) and going to find mushrooms (even though he didn't like to eat them). He loved going and finding mushrooms and giving them to the ones who couldn't go. The most important thing was he loved the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Timothy Lyons officiating. Cremation will follow with a private family burial of the cremated remains in Centennial Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Charles' memory to Grace of God Fellowship, 644 W 1000 S, Kingman, IN 47952 or Kingman American Legion, PO Box 443, Kingman, IN 47952.
