Charles Cundiff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2011.
Charles "Chuck" L. Cundiff, 55, of Ashburnham, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. Chuck, son of the late Charles F. and Lyndol (Keller) Cundiff, was born in Aransas Pass, Texas on September 12, 1955 and lived in Fitchburg and Ashburnham since the early 1980's. Chuck was employed with the Hudson Poly Bag Co. in Hudson. Since he was a young child, Chuck has enjoyed a fascination with astronomy and the universe. He built an observatory in his yard and gazed at the stars through his high powered telescope. He also created a website focused on astronomy. Chuck was an accomplished photographer and astrophotographer. He began developing his own film at an early age and had a darkroom for that purpose in his home. Moreover, Chuck was quite handy. He is remembered as being able to fix just about anything. He led a simple, quiet life, but to those who knew Chuck, his loss will be immeasurable. Chuck will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Terrie (Searle) Cundiff; four children, Chas Cundiff, Kyle Cundiff, Derrick Cundiff and Nicole Cundiff; three stepsons, Jonathan Searle, Daniel Robertson and Jacob Robertson; his brother, Jimmy Cundiff; his sisters, Debbie Weston, Kathy Hamblen and Trish Reed; one grandson and several nephews and nieces. Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Chuck's life by gathering for his funeral service in the Peoples Evangelical Congregational Church 56 South Main Street, Ashburnham on Saturday March 19, 2011 at 11AM. All are welcome to attend. Rev. Daniel Allen will officiate. Burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
