REV. CHARLES HOWARD DAVIS, age 89, was called to his heavenly home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his residence in Clarksville, Tenn. following an extended illness, with his loving family at his side. Rev. Davis was born in Plevna, Ala., to the late Homer Earnest Davis and Minnie Lou Hall Davis, on October 20, 1936. Rev. Davis was a 1954 graduate of Huntland High School. He then received his Theological degree from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tenn. Rev. Davis then attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Rev. Davis accepted the Lord as his savior at the age of 11 at a Revival meeting attended by his family. The Preacher holding the revival meeting was Bro. Raymond B. Kennedy. He preached the wondrous Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was during this Revival that his entire family was transformed by the spirit of God. His parents became faithful believers and lifetime members of Donaldson Grove Baptist Church in Elora, Tenn.
Years later, Charles would meet and marry the granddaughter of Pastor Raymond Kennedy Linda Burdett, on December 25, 1961. Linda was his wife, secretary, friend and co-laborer in the work of God, as well as the faithful mother of their 3 daughters.
Charles preached his first sermon at the age of 16. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on September 6, 1959, at the age of 22 and accepted his first pastorate.
During his ministry he pastored Churches in Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky. He also preached the gospel on Mission trips to Nova Scotia, Nigeria, Uganda, South Africia and the Philippines.
Through all the labors and blessings of his life, Love for Christ was the passion of his heart.
Rev. Davis will be remembered for his determination to seek God's filling power upon his preaching and work for God. Through earnest prayer he desired to be a humble, and yielding servant of God.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Davis was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Burdett Davis of Clarksville, Tenn., Daughters; Krista (Bruce) Blackburn, Flatwoods, KY, Evangeline (Brooks) Bibb of Cataula, GA, and Aimee (Bryan) Feldman,
Clarksville, TN. Grandchildren; Charles "Will" Blackburn of Flatwoods, KY, Karissa (John) Aparicio of Ashland, KY, Corrie (Dan) Tarr of Pocomoke City, Maryland, Josiah Bibb of Columbus, GA, Graham (Breauna) Bibb also of Columbus, GA., Hannah Bibb of Cataula, GA, and Emma Feldman of Nashville, TN. Sister, Wanda Fanning of Belvidere. 6-Great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Rev. Davis will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Donaldson Grove Baptist Church, Elora, Tenn., with Dr. Bob Hill, officiating.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 on Saturday at the Church.
Interment will follow services at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Huntland, Tenn.
