He is preceded by his parents, Alvin and Betty Lou Deffner; as well as his mother and father in-law, James Schumacher, and Garnett Schenzel.

A memorial service will take place at 11 AM, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI. A visitation will be held at Helke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
