Charles "Chuck" Deffner, 65, of Schofield, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1959, in Wausau, WI, to Alvin and Betty Lou (Lehman) Deffner.
Charles graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1977 and went on to work at Greenheck for an impressive 46 years, remaining loyal to the company as his sole employer. Throughout his life, Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, being actively involved in his son's sports activities, and relishing the role of a doting grandfather to his grandchildren. His family held a special place in his heart, and he dedicated himself to helping his children with their projects and spending quality time with his loved ones and friends.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Lynn (Schumacher) Deffner; sons, Caleb (Jennifer "JJ") Deffner, Chad Deffner; grandchildren, Crosby, and Kessel; siblings, Arnold Deffner, Barbara (Dale) Cybela, Ronald (Karen) Deffner, Jeanette (Seth) Wiskow, Joseph (Karen) Deffner, and David (Paula) Deffner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded by his parents, Alvin and Betty Lou Deffner; as well as his mother and father in-law, James Schumacher, and Garnett Schenzel.
A memorial service will take place at 11 AM, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI. A visitation will be held at Helke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
