Detjen, Charles Warren
Age 94, passed away peacefully Dec 2, 2022. Charles grew up in Clayton, MO, valedictorian of Clayton High School, while also playing 5th violin at St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra. Graduated from Harvard College BA '50.
Charles enlisted in the Air Force in 1951, and served as a navigator/bombardier in Korea. Proud of his service to the country and to serve as First Lieutenant in the 95th Bomb Squadron, he was honorably discharged in 1956.
Charles worked in the textile industry in New York in the early part of his career. He became an accomplished real estate broker in New Milford, Connecticut and finished his career as an executive search professional at Sales Recruiters, Ltd. Charles was a writer, an historian especially of US history and a lover of classical music and politics.
A charmer, quick witted, Charles had an engaging personality and smile. A member of the Greatest Generation he embodied those values, was industrious, self-reliant, and an accomplished, subdued force. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys "Cam" Clark Detjen, in 2018, and his youngest son, John Underhill Detjen, 2006. He is survived by two sons C. Warren Jr (Debbora) and Paul (Trish). A loving grandfather to Daniel (Nikki) and Andrew (Lauren), and to Paul, John (Dani), Connor (Claire), Kathleen (Michael) Viole and Clare (Matt) McCarron. Charles had 9 great-grandchildren Charlie and Sofia, Zabelle, Poppy and Millie, Marlow Lucy and Jack Viole and Connor McCarron. Charles is at peace, reunited at last with his love Cam.

Charles led an extremely full and interesting life and I thoroughly enjoyed all of his stories and appreciated the abundance of love he had for his family. I will miss him but I´m so grateful to have known him.
