Chuck and I were classmates and played football together at Rogers. I will always remember his gentlemanly ways and good humor. Jim Coppens, Class of '61

Chuck, Joan, and family came to Southern Illinois around 1983 to help manage, by far, the best preparation plant, ever, in our area/ probably anywhere. Work doesn´t make one the person you are. He was made long before that. The conversations we had from time to time later in life made me realize how a great and decent person he actually was. So long my friend.

Chuck and I were in the Class of '61 of Rogers High School, Wyoming, MI, and on the football team together. I was always impressed by his mental ability. I will miss him. Jim Coppens

I will never forget the wonderful camping trip we took with Chuck and Joan at the top of the Graham mountains in Arizona. It was raining cats and dogs but our group pitched a giant tarp and we cooked a delicious dinner in several Dutch ovens. We saw a couple trying to set up camp in the rain and invited them over for dinner. We sang to guitar music and had a wonderful evening together.

Chuck was a great man. His son Jeff is my oldest friend. I met Jeff the first day of first grade. Chuck was my scout master for a time in Boy Scouts. We hunted squirrels, deer & went fishing a lot growing up and as a grown up. Chuck was a big part of my life growing up. He will be missed. If more men lived their lives as he did, the world would be a better place. Chuck will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Chuck's death. Our memories include the times we spent together with your family in Gillette, when we moved there and you had us over many times. I can remember going over to the Black Hills with Chuck to cut wood for our coal stoves. We did it 2 weekends in a row and filled up 3 pick ups and a trailer. Hard work, but Chuck knew exactly where to go and what to do. Condolences to all of the family.
