Charles Dolan Obituary
1933 - 2023
Swampscott - Charles J. "Joe" Dolan, Jr., age 89, of Swampscott, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Lynn and raised in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Susan (Harrington) and Charles Dolan, Sr. He graduated from Swampscott High School and the General Motors Institute in Michigan. Joe taught auto mechanics at the Lynn Vocation Trade until his retirement. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed walking and reading and of course, his greatest love of all, his wife Emily G. Dolan to whom he was married for almost 68 years. They loved spending their winters in Florida and spent many fun nights at the Elks Club in Marblehead. His other greatest joys were his children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
In addition to his wife Emily, Joe is survived by his son Michael Dolan and his wife Justine of Mattapoisett and his daughter Kathleen Dolan and her husband William McCarthy of Swampscott; his grandchildren, Sean, Meghan and Michael Dolan, Kim Hamel and her husband James of Weymouth and Lisa Federico of North Reading; his great-grandson Luke Hamel; his brother William Dolan and his wife Claire of Lynn and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Marian "Mimi" Dolan; his sister Patricia Tenaglia and his brothers John and Thomas Dolan.
Service Information: A Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 9a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Rt.1A), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10a.m. Burial will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7p.m. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com

Condolences to the Dolan family, Charles (Joe) was a great man, I studied under him and he taught me the Auto Mechanics trade and even placed me after graduation in the Automotive field. Very saddened to learn Charles (joe) passed away.

Joe was the nicest man I ever met. We attended daily mass together for many years. Being born here we talked about old times, Charlie and the Dolan family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God has Joe in his arms now and he can rest in peace.
