Charles Anthony "Honey Bun" Dowdy

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Anthony “Honey Bun" Dowdy, 97 of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Rev. Ricky Baker and Rev. Ambrose Douzart officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the funeral home.

Mr. Dowdy was born on August 2, 1928, in Monroe and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2025, in Monroe. Honey Bun as he was affectionately known was a member of the R. R. McGuire Lodge #209, member of the Scottish Rite Shriners, and was a York Rite Mason. He performed as a Clown driving the small cars, with all the routines, stunts, skills, and hours of practice for the Barak Shriners Circus.

Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by his sons, Ricky Dowdy and Michael Dowdy; grandson, Dylan Bass; great grandson, Rowinn Busby; and son-in-law, Hubert Lockwood.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Rachal Dowdy; children, Deborah Lockwood, David Dowdy, James Dowdy, Rebecca Dowdy, and Artice Dowdey; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Ward, Carter Busby, Marcus Stevenson, Jobec Stevenson, and Parker Bass. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Parillo, Gavin Stevenson, and Charles Nettles.

Memorials may be made to the Barak Shriners.
